Excellent price on rooms, food, diving and spa. Staff was very nice. The cheap rooms are smaller than expected so upgraded to a larger room and shower handles are not set to spray down on some rooms so had to hold the shower handle instead of just being able to stand under the shower. Cheap fix that would improve experiences. Also needed reminders most days to clean rooms and give new towels but they were very prompt when asked. Would be nice to have umbrellas by loungers at the pool as it gets to hot to lay out there during the day. Overall great experience for the price. If you are looking for a resort on a budget this place will not disappoint. Good restaurants within walking distance as well.

Beautiful location great for snorkeling and diving! Nice breakfast watching the sunrise! However, the rooms were poorly maintained and structured. There were large gaps in the ceiling/roof and above the door, so geckos and mosquitoes could come in anytime. When we first arrived in our room there were multiple poop piles on our beds, and we were told that the at least 2 geckos lived in that room. We had to fight to get the sheets changed and ultimately they just changed our room. We saw a large gecko (size of our hand and fat) in our bathroom during our stay as well, as well as many mosquitoes inside. The room was small and with the furniture layout it was difficult to keep our bags. The diving is incredible in the area - we ended up going with a different local dive company because they had betheir rates were cheaper and they also let us borrow equipment the day before for free. They had much better food, WiFi, and hostel/friendly environment.

Great hotel in a scenic town
Despite not being a diver, I wanted to stay at this hotel and Tulamben.It had a killer view of the sea and Miunt Agung.The staff were very friendly and helped arrange a custom trip that I had chosen. The restaurant was decent, and the menu was really broad. Overall, I was really satisfied with my stay and would like to be back next time I visit Bali.

On the beach in front of suci place dive site,and down the road feom the liberty wreck. Dive guides are a bit hands on with the marine life, which isnt my style, but they are lovely people amd will show you many creatures. Top notch

Fantastic dive resort located on the beach front. Great facilities, pool, dive equipment and snorkelling rental. Restaurant is great, a huge range of food to choose from and a delicious breakfast too. The dive masters are amazing, they know the dive sites so well and are such a help. Coral garden is located directly in front of the hotel and is a great dive such beautiful corals and fish. The instructors were extremely courteous to us and our dive experience as this was our first dive since qualifying and I was very nervous. But Kari our guide was so patient and helpful throughout our entire dive with him. Fantastic hotel, with fantastic staff and facilities. I can’t comment on the spa as we didn’t use it but the prices were really good and the facilities looked great. We had an amazing stay and would definitely go back.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Great local diving, great dive guides, amazing food and drinks. Our only recommendation would be a better mattress for the beds. 2 out our 2 beds had a large dip in the middle. overall a great trip and we would return

Excellent value hotel!
We had a lovely relaxing stay at Matahari Hotel and extended by 2 days to explore the surrounding area, and dive on the US Liberty again !! Located right on the waterfront with direct sea access for snorkelling diving. Breakfast eggs, coffee/tea and either fruit or a fresh juice was a perfect start to the day in the sunshine looking out to sea. Hotel serves good food and slightly puzzled by the mixed reviews. We really enjoyed chilling on the roof terrace in the afternoon with views of Mount Agung and usually had the terrace to ourselves. Standard rooms are basic but do the job and are good value for what you pay (£14 a nite). Had a lovely massage in the onsite Spa and wish we’d gone earlier - recommend book Spa a day ahead if you want to go early evening.
