"Was disappointed to find that there was no available gym in the hotel, even though it is advertised as such. The sofa bed in the room was broken, as was the air-conditioning. Staff attempted to fix it but didn’t make a difference. When we visited, there was a pile of mattresses sitting in the lobby. Surely there’s a better way to manage this. We shared our complaints with staff at the hotel but they showed little interest so I hope management will take note "

Every member we met wasn't just attentive but seemed genuinely concerned with making our stay as pleasant and trouble free as possible. My endearing memory will be the smiles of every one of them we met. You should be proud of them."

"The room was very spacious and clean. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was delicious. The only issue I experienced was that the water in the bathroom was too hot and there was no way to make it cooler. Apart from this, everything was good."

"Parking is limited but easy to get too. Linen nice and clean, towels and bedding. Tea and coffee provided in room. Only problem is that twice we have visited the hotel recently and had problems with the shower, no cold water therefore water was too hot, and previously shower handle broke off. First time another room was provided, second time offered a change of room or a room for a shower, staff offered a solution. All staff very friendly. "

"Very good for the money. Comfortable and clean room that was quiet and slept well. Fair walk into town but there was a bus stop up road with buses into town every few mins. No problem parking. "

"Positives - Good location for York; great showers and comfortable bed. Negatives - only breakfast option is continental breakfast served in room, though room facilities to do this minimal. No communal space for a drink etc other than a small unwelcoming area between the front door and the reception hatch, which offered a very small range of self serve drinks. More a place to sleep than a place to stay."

"Only a short walk from the train station, Wheatlands Lodge Hotel was impressive to look at on first view from the street. Well kept garden at front with seating and tables on lawn. Welcomed on arrival, quick check in, offered a local paper guide to York and a complementary hot drink. The bedroom was comfortable and clean but did look a little dated.
