"Very clean room including the bathroom and shower considering it is shared. The staff was very nice and accommodating towards us even as foreigners. Staying at a ryokan is a bit of a culture shock but after the first night it you warm up to it and get a great experience. Food was also delicious."

"We loved the staff and hospitality at Momijiya. My husband said it felt like we were staying at our grandma's house. We loved the ryokan experience as well. We really felt we were getting a more intimate Japanese experience. The food really put us Americans out of our comfort zone, but we wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Our rooms were quaint with nice view, and the comforters on our futons were incredible comfortable. Like sleeping inside a warm cloud. This is a great spot to feel...

"Love that this ryokan had halal meal options! The entire place is gorgeous with a beautiful view of Lake Biwa. Easy to get to (they have a shuttle bus from the train station). If you have a private onsen, just know that the shower is also outside. No other options, unless you use the public bath."

The Japanese hospitality of the staff, traditional breakfast every morning (server to your room), your beds made daily and sleeping on the mattresses on tatami flooring and public bath are good experience. "Our stay was great. We had 11 family members including 5 kids. Staff member was really kind. Accommodate baggage check in before check in hours. I dropped off bags myself earlier while other members travel. Staff helped to carry and secure. Garden and dining were good a feeling of old Kyoto style. Only down side was the dinner that we reserved ahead as per email instructions (if not in advance, we wouldn’t secure spots. Makes sense that time as we have 11 members. Also location is a bit isolated...
