Breda Suites Hotel Milano
10/10 Excellent
"The room was clean and with more than enough space for 3 people - I didn't feel cramped at all. The bathroom was super nice. They had room cleaning service every day and did a good job. A/Cs, elevators, etc. so good, but no irons (see below) The hotel is close to the outer bounds of Milan. So this means you have to take the Metro (recommended) or taxi to the tourist places. The Milan Metro is superbly efficient and you don't have to wait much for the excellent, fast, quiet trains. The Bignami stop is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel - safe and calm. However, it is still 15-30 mins to different places, so you lose time both ways. There are no food choices super close, so you have to travel. Also going from and to the airport means either a taxi (currently $114 one-way) or the prospect of dragging bags to the metro and while switching trains (which we didn't do) The hotel itself is interesting. It is new and inside a large compound with another tall hotel. Since outside construction is still going on, you actually go through the other hotel to get to your place. Taxis drop you at the other hotel. We also got a room below the lobby which meant that the view was not great, but OTOH, we did get early checkin. No irons in the hotel, but the other hotel had a room where you could iron your clothes."

"The room and staff were amazing. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the bar. The fine dining resturant was poor. Scant selection and the quality was average at best. Service was slow. We had a far superior meal off property for less cost. We would certainly stay again but would skip the food."

"Overall, our stay at the hotel was okay. The buffet breakfast was excellent, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, we had some minor issues. We expected more from a four-star hotel, perhaps because we’re not familiar with Italian hotel practices. For example, they only provided body wash, so we had to buy our own shampoo. The air conditioning wasn’t cold enough, making it difficult to sleep if you prefer a chilly room. Still water is only available on the ground floor. While they made our beds every day, they didn’t change the bed linens, which wasn’t a problem for us since we usually take a bath before bed. However, if you prefer daily bed linens, this might be an issue."

Palace Grand Hotel Varese

"The hotel is very scenic and the grounds are lovely especially the pool area. Staff are very helpful too, room was perfect, good size and comfy bed. You can relax here all day and the views are amazing. It’s a bit of a walk up so recommend coming by car/taxi but going down is ok and a supermarket at the bottom and bus stop where you can get to town within 10 mins and Varese nord station. The only negative is the food, it just wasn’t to my liking and good value. I would definitely come back."

"Great pick if you’re looking for a quiet environment halfway between the city center and Malpensa airport. Direct Tram to Centro just 2 mn away. The hotel restaurant is good. Great staff and family friendly environment."
