Northwest of Madrid lies Majadahonda, a town whose commercial and leisure offerings, combined with its excellent location, make it a wise destination.
Majadahonda is just 11 miles from Madrid and offers superb transport links to the centre of the capital. Its historic old town was destroyed during the Civil War, meaning nowadays you can only admire its remnants, such as the Church of Santa Catalina. Take a tour of the centre and you’ll be able to see different species of birds such as eagles, owls, vultures and storks, and learn about the projects for the conservation and rehabilitation of local fauna that are carried out here.
The main advantage of this town, though, is that the money you’ll save on accommodation will allow you to visit the tourist attractions in Madrid or other nearby towns.
