A beautiful, large old house. Very spacious rooms with high ceilings. It is what it is, i hesitate to use the phrase cheap and cheerful as that would do it an injustice. Value for money, comfortable with great hosts - what more would you want!

I recently had the pleasure of staying the castle lodge guesthouse near Liverpool city, and I must say, it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, the service provided by the staff was outstanding. They were attentive, accommodating, and went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The friendliness of the staff was another standout aspect of this guesthouse. They greeted me with warm smiles and were always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. It felt like staying with friends rather than in a traditional accommodation setting. One of the most appealing aspects of this guesthouse is its affordability. Despite offering top-notch service and amenities, the rates were incredibly reasonable. It was refreshing to find a place that provided such excellent value for money. Additionally, the location of the guesthouse was ideal. It was only a short drive away from Liverpool city, making it convenient for exploring the vibrant city center. Whether I wanted to visit the famous landmarks, indulge in shopping, or experience the local culture, everything was within easy reach. Overall, I highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for a fantastic stay near Liverpool city. The combination of great service, friendly staff, affordability, and proximity to the city center make it a truly exceptional choice.

If you're looking for luxury accommodation this is not for you, but if it's a friendly welcome, helpful staff and basic comfort this is good value for money. A complementary self-serve buffet breakfast was an unexpected bonus which made the logistics of our day so much easier. The only downside was the room was quite hot but opening the window let in traffic noise.

Welcoming staff. Unexpected complimentary continental breakfast. Plenty of parking, but a dodgy area (hotel itself very secure) Let down by the most badly stained mattress (that wasnt in a skip) I've ever seen.

The bed frame was covered in ground in dirt. Dust that accumulates over a few days is ok but this stuff has been there for a year plus.who cleans the place ? Plenty people to meet and greet but nobody cleaning the place. Friendly but noisy and dirty.

Great little find. Basic but pleasent
Overall we had a really good stay. The staff were fantastic, made us feel really welcome and even upgraded us to the biggest room I'd ever stayed in for ko extra charge. They provide free breakfast to give back to people during the cost of living crisis which I thought was a lovely touch and it was a really good spread. Bed clothes were super clean and could smell the freshness from them. The guest house is old and the bathrooms could definitely be updated as the shower barely worked. It is a little out of the city and in the red light area of Liverpool but we didnt notice anything like that during our stay.

Liverpool's hidden gem
Great stay hosts over and above to help upgraded room at no extra cost due to wife's mobility. Breakfast complimentary for season. Room/apartment was spotlessly clean, spacious bright, warm and quiet despite been on main road. Excellent hotel and will definitely visit again.

Very budget, in need of modernisation. But we knew what we were booking so kind of expected it. Very warm, needed to turn heating down. Staff were lovely though and it served a purpose for our visit.
