9. Queens Head Hotel

Windermere

"The reason I haven’t scored 5 is that Expedia sold us a room that had issues with noise / cooking smells as it’s above the kitchen and is noisey and smelly when the staff are cooking. We stayed in a room named Helvellyn and Expedia didn’t state any issues with any rooms. If we had booked direct with the queens head it details the room helvellyn as having issues with noise etc due to it’s proximity to the kitchen. I think Expedia have been misleading not detailing the facts about that particular...

"Enjoyed a great 3 night stay at the Hideaway. This is a true Bed & Breakfast. Our bed was comfortable and our private bath had been nicely modernized with helpful shelves and racks. The breakfasts were prepared to order from a balanced menu. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. Due to the rain we did not get to enjoy the outside sitting area but it looked inviting. The bedroom itself was a bit tight, but we had small roller bags so we were able to situate everything - would have been...

"The B&B was in a good central location with buses stopping just outside if you needed one. It was about 20 minutes walk into Bowness at a steady pace and 10 minutes walk into Bowness. At first we thought it was a quiet place to stay and the area was. Unfortunately not inside, the noise from the room above us was continuous, sounded like elephants stomping around, from about 7am and until up to 11.00pm. It was difficult to relax at times. Obviously whilst out it did not disturb, but as soon as we...
