Nice budget hotel. The area is still considered "up and coming," which is probably why it's so inexpensive. But the hotel is literally right around the corner from the metro, so it shouldn't matter. This is a good place to use as a base to see Paris for a few days without taking out a second mortgage.

Well located, near metro. Friendly. The room was a bit on the small side, and was one of those not yet renovated. Also had to pass through a building site on the way up, as they are doing up the bistro on the ground floor.
They were friendly. So I would have no problem staying there again, especially once completed.
The hotel offers very good value for money, with clean, modern and quiet rooms (sound-proofed against the constant traffic hum of the adjacent Boulevard Peripherique). The rooms are a bit small but not bad by 3* standards. Bathrooms are clean and shiny. The staff are very friendly and there are at least 2-3 receptionists always at hand , again unusual by 3* standards in Paris. The breakfast buffet is very good value at 6:15 euros pp: with a variety of pastries, eggs, cereals, fresh fruit.
The only downside is that because of its high comfort and low cost, the hotel seems to attract large tour groups who can cause traffic jams at the reception desk, lifts, lobby and breakfast buffet.
The hotel is in a location that was advantageous for me but not a location one would particularly choose. It's about half an hour taxi ride in traffic to get to the center of town. The staff was fantastic and welcoming. The breakfast was good. WiFi was good but not really free. 10 euros to have steady WiFi around the clock. Another free option for a shaky 2 hour connection. The room was functional with a patio overlooking the canal but a view restricted by a vast latticework. Coffee in the room. Quiet. Nice bed and great shower. A short walk to shops.
Pocket Guide: Paris La Villette - Buttes-Chaumont Hotels
Formerly home to the Parisian stockyards, top attraction of this north-eastern residential and commercial district is Parc de la Villette, a huge urban theme park and science museum with lots for children. Belleville’s whimsical Parc des Buttes-Chaumont and the Bassin de la Villette canal (boat trips) provide other distractions.
