Cheating-Hotel Chennai by Wink, George Town,Penang

Hotels.com and Hotel Chennai by Wink have cheated me by offering a hotel which has ceased its operation. In your advertisement you mentioned that we need not to call the hotel to confirm our booking. Trusting on that my family and I travelled to Penang. Upon arrival at Hotel Chennai by wink in George Town, Penang, I was shocked to see the hotel was closed. According to the neighbours, we were not the first to be cheated. There were people before us who were also booke this hotel and were shocked by the closure of this hotel.

A fuir absolument

A mon arrivée on m'a demandé de payer immédiatement, j'ai proposé de régler avec ma Visa et on me l'a refusé, il fallait du cash absolument. J'ai demandé de déposer mes valises dans ma chambre puis d'aller dans un distributeur on me l'a également refusé. J'ai laissé ma femme surveiller les valises et je suis parti à la recherche d'un distributeur. A mon retour, accès à ma chambre ou plutôt à mon cagibi. Un lit de 140 adossé au mur et 20cm de l'autre côté. Pas de fenêtre, clim arrêté à mon arrivée, il faisait plus de 30° c'était suffocant. Je l'ai mise en marche mais je n'ai pas senti un courant d'air froid, a priorine fonctionnait pas mais elle faisait un bruit terrible. La sdb n'était pas mieux, les toilettes fuyaient. Pas besoin de vous parler de la propreté qui était au niveau du reste. Je me demande si les draps avaient été changés. C'était trop nous ne nous sommes pas vus passer 5 nuits dans ces conditions. Nous sommes retournés à la réception pour demander un remboursement mais sans trop y croire. Notre demande a bien sûr été refusée, nous avons essayé de négocier à 50%, refusé également. Nous avons quand même réservé dans un autre hôtel et le meilleur c'est que le réceptionniste a exigé qu'on lui rende la clé avant de partir. Je lui ai dit que puisqu'il ne voulait rien nous rendre la chambre nous appartenait jusqu'à mon départ et que je passerai tous les jours contrôler s'il ne la louait pas une seconde fois. Chose que je n'ai pas faite.

It was worth the stay. Everything was fine; the bed is comfortable and clean, tv is working fine except with just a few channels, toilet was a bit old but working well.

This hotel is located in Georgetown. Many tourist attractions are nearby and in close proximity. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. There are many good restaurants/food options nearby.

房間很舒適乾淨，美中不足的是沒有冰箱，不知為何2樓有設一間公用廁所，晚上睡覺時間還有人使用，門開開關關很吵，凌晨也會被吵得無法入睡，WIFI流量不是很順，櫃台服務人員會說中文，住宿要押金50馬幣跟每晚10元歲金

旅館地點位於小印度區域內。 櫃檯人員會說中文。 房內有吹風機，但浴廁通風不佳，整個房間的霉味很不好聞，都要開冷氣10分鐘後才能散味。 冷氣搖控器液晶顯示、電視都是壞掉的。 房門很重，且飲水機在2、4樓，離開房間裝水會被自動鎖住。 4樓有露天小花園，很棒！ 有電梯，不用擔心行李。

My overall experience.

I love the location. Indeed it was in close proximitry to all the great places. The famous penang laksa, chendol and fort cornwellis fort (which was a time and money wasted as some areas were under renovation). Hotel Chennai overall stay was pretty decent. The staff were average helpful. The rooftop space was a real refresher with the outdoor jacuzzi (which we did not have time to use). Overall a happy and satisfied experience. Ps: watch out for the uneven flooring when ur going in or out of the lift.

Good location in George Town, Penang for strolling around. Near Little India. Room was clean, not very spacious but ideal for the budget traveler. We used Grab to take us to some shopping malls which are not far away and they were very reasonably priced.
