"What an incredible experience! Built in the 1940s (I believe) on a 17th century fort on a windblown beach in a national park? Yes please! The natural beauty alone is worth staying here. But the use of stone and wood and natural elements was superb. I saw some reviews complain about the age of the place. Well my room and the whole wing appears quite new. Decor is simple and comfortable and more than spacious enough for Americans. My room (#50) had a huge patio with views of both the dunes and the beach! Housekeeping works hard here! Keeping the sand out when it blows in the air and folks track it in must be impossible but I walked barefoot in my room with no grit. The best part was the service. They let me put my luggage in early and after I checked out so I could walk the beach. They even walked me to my room. Very helpful despite language barriers- MINE, my Portugese is non existent. Hands signals and smiles and patience fixed that. If you need a day or two of quiet after a busy city like Lisbon I highly recommend this local beach off the beaten track"

"Beautiful hotel in the center of Sintra. Close to a public parking lot and walkable to several attractions. The inn was beautiful inside, with extensive outdoor gardens, and the welcome port was appreciated! There was also an honor bar in the public lounge, where we relaxed with other travelers. Nice place, friendly service in a very beautiful town"

"Fantastic place to stay! Spacious character room…and a claw foot tub! Very pleasant and helpful staff. Perfect location to get to the sights, particularly the Quinta de Regaleira. Easy alk to many food and beverage places. On the edge of Historic Centro Sintra. Of note, there are several ‘Boutique Hotels’ in Sintra…clarify ‘Palacio’ and maybe show the address if take a tuk tuk. If you are remotely fit, it’s an easy walk (with rolling suitcase) from the train station. "

"My room was spotless, clean, and comfortable. Front desk was helpful and kind (Sandro helped me get my luggage to my room and to car) and moved my daughter's family to a 2 level room with a kitchenette for my grandson. Grandson loved playing in the indoor pool. Only negative was breakfast food choices on line not really what Americans tend to choose, but nice presentation. And coffee machines never fill the cups, need to do twice. But really, A lovely hotel!"
