  • I took this in March in Sintra, Portugal! It's at the fairy tale castle Pena Palace :). This is one of the lovely close-up views. It's is a Romanticist castle that stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains. And undoubtedly one of the most iconic places in Portugal. And a dream come true to visit it! It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, spacious room, centrally located and charming. For breakfast, there is a large table where you can sit with other guests, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere.

Great location. We liked that the hotel is a converted traditional home which gives it an authentic feel. It is very basic and the decor is closer to creepy than quaint. Very chilly and damp.

Staff was very accommodating, and were able to store my baggage for the day while I went out to explore. Note that the hotel is in the driving restricted historic center, so likely your taxi or tuktuk will drop you off on the main road, and you'll have to walk 5 minutes to the hotel. Breakfast was small, but had everything we needed for a healthy start to the day. Room size was good, and bed was very comfy. Adjoining bathroom was quite large, with a comfortably sized antique rain shower that was set very high to accommodate any basketball player-sized guests. Room did come with a heater, which I appreciated.

The room was spotless with king sized bed. AC/heater, and good tv and internet connection. There was a bathroom two steps up including a small enclosed shower and claw foot tub with sink and toilet. All was fresh and clean. There was also a small alcove with a twin bed on the same level as the bath.

Can’t beat this location, easy to get to from the city center and a short walk to the bus stops to see everything in sintra. The room was beautiful and the staff was welcoming and helpful.
