Discover the secrets of the universe and enjoy the audiovisual experience of a lifetime at this superb planetarium.

Situated on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Centre is a paragon of scientific excellence that should be at the top of every Reno to-do list. Every year, this exceptional planetarium welcomes over 44,000 visitors, ranging from budding astronomers and professional star gazers to those who simply want to learn more about the secrets of our universe.

When you first glimpse this iconic building, it’s easy to see why it is a noted U.S. National Historic Landmark. Designed by acclaimed Reno architect Ray Hellman, it’s worth pausing for a photo of the building's unique exterior before you explore the cosmos within.

Once inside, begin your journey through space and time in the informative Exhibit Hall which is choc-full of inspiring exhibits designed to engage visitors in a fun and entertaining way. Wander amid large-scale globes of the earth and moon, marvel at the black-hole simulator and admire the unique collection of meteorites which includes a half-tonne meteorite discovered in Nevada in 1908. The best thing about these wonderful exhibits is that they are open daily and are completely free of charge.

Now it’s time for the star of the show. Take a seat in the planetarium, home to the world’s first full-dome cinema. Featuring a 360-degree projector with the capacity to project horizon-to-horizon images, this top-of-the-range facility comes complete with mind-blowing surround sound. Enjoy a space-related feature film, discover the secrets of the ancient Mayans or catch one of the planetarium's star or light shows.

Schedule your visit for the first Friday of every month to hear guest astronomers discuss what is happening in the sky that night as part of the SkyTonight Star Talk show. After these fascinating lectures, visitors are invited to gaze up at the stars using the planetarium’s state-of-the-art telescope. With every chance of meteorites and star showers, you never know what you might see in the brilliant Nevada night skies.
