"This was the most gorgeous and quirky place to stay. We loved the heritage features and the creative atmosphere that has really shown off the fact that the owner has a good imagination. Consider a combination of an old convent building, beautiful spacious grounds, and then add a dollop of Alice in Wonderland. We were very happy with our stay in the bishops cottage, loved the location, and will come back to stay here as soon as we can plan another visit to Te Anau."

"Breakfast was excellent, scrambled eggs cooked to perfection not rubbery, hash browns crispy, bacon not over cooked, bake beans, mushrooms tasty. All this plus continental breakfast and juice, coffee and tea. Staff really friendly and customer focused. Our plane couldn't land in Invercargill so we returned to Auckland and could rebook another flight until two days later. "This is an excellent hotel, we had a villa which was so spacious as we are away for an extended time we have lots of bags. I cannot praise the staff enough, from reception, bar and restaurant to housekeeping, everyone was great, even let me check out late for no cost when our trip plans got changed at the last minute "
