  • This was taken at the Kea Point lookout at Mt Cook National Park. It was an easy trek and the view was phenomenal. We got there just as the sun was about to go behind the mountains so I was glad that I could capture what was left of the light on those snow-capped peaks. The giant mountain there is Mt Wakefield and just to the left of it is Mt Cook, nearly fully covered by those stubborn clouds. The Muller Glacier down the bottom definitely gave the image a good colour contrast as well.

Quite basic but comfortable and satisfactorily equipped room. The location and the lake view are worth ten times the reasonable room rate. Guest kitchen and laundry facilities on site. Very friendly and helpful staff. Definitely recommended.

Booked rooms were not available, shower put water all over the bathroom floor, beds had no support and the grounds were over run with weeds. A great view though.

The entire complex looks ready for a major renovation: the buildings look very tired and the grounds, especially at the rear of buildings, were overgrown and unkempt. Our room was clean and tidy enough although the skirting in the bathroom was rotten - the interior of the room looked untouched since the 1970s. We were embarrassed to think that overseas guests would be staying here. We expected much better for what we paid to stay here. A disappointing experience.

This hotel was clean but that’s not what I felt at first glance. Cooking Teflon pan was peeling off. Once I asked for a replacement staff immediately fixed the problem. Then we noticed that the only provided 2 towels for a reservation for 4. Again very quickly provided. Then noticed 2 lights in the living room were out. Electrician did not seem competent. He should have first tested the breaker but instead started retiring the fixture with live wires. Glad he did not kill himself. He did however short the circuit before fixing it. This hotel needs a REAL hotel manager. Staff was helpful.

This motel has been around for years, with that said i found it to be clean and just what you need, the view is the main reason for the stay.

This place had 2 things going for it and one was the view from our room and the second was the bed was comfortable. Shower held together with string. Microwave dubious. Cutlery - nothing other than a cup and saucer. No bowl, no plates. Room definately in need of an upgrade re curtains and heater. Also false advertising as Te Annau was placed first in front of Manapouri Lakeside Hotel . Being unfamiliar with the area I had assumed the accommodation was in Te Anau and not 20 km away in Manapouri. I actually thought Manapouri was the name of the hotel !
