"I have stayed at this hotel over 5 times under 2 different owners. The spa is always impressive however Champneys now charge extra for residents’ access per day. This results in a stampede at 3pm for guests wanting to (rightly) get their money’s worth. It really detracts from the ability to relax. The spa bar area could do with a little TLC: walls marked; carpets covered in crumbs; cobwebs on the ceiling alcoves; plastic champagne flutes!!! The bed was comfortable and the bedroom spacious....

"A lovely hotel and spa. Nice swimming pool, sauna and gym. Good breakfast. Nice friendly staff. Excellent location. My only disappointment was the room was a bit tired and only 2 sockets which were on the opposite wall to the bed. Also the kettle had to sit on the floor because the cable wasn’t long enough to have on the table. Also would have been nice to have some decaf teabags. Small problems really but just observations."

"There was a mixup with the rooms when we checked in and they changed our rooms to something simple which was great. A very higgeldy piggeldy hotel layout but it worked out in the end. Breakfast was fine. But not enough staff on hand."

"Had a slow drain on the shower, due to the way the shower isn’t a tray this meant water flooded the rest of the bathroom. Reported to be reception and this wasn’t fixed. Had to use a towel wedged against the shower door and then turn the water down. Asked for more milk sachets (two for a family room with 4 isn’t enough) at reception and got directed to the bar, had a huge wait whilst they faffed around serving just one person - god help anyone if ordering a round then! A bit unclear at...

"Once I saw that the hotel was now run by OYO I nearly had a heart attack as the one in Cardiff is shocking! The only reason we were okay was because of the manager who is looking at leaving anyway. It is a terrible company. You can see things are deteriorating already. The carpets are very dirty. We were in a room that had almost light coming in."
