"Website details & pictures; a different story to reality. Initial reception - given questionnaire with another guests details, spoke of our ‘standard room’ which I pointed out was incorrect - booked a superior room. MUCH whispering with a colleague and tapping of computer keyboard then told to wait whilst they sorted out a glitch with the system and issues with the superior room availability. Resolved by offering us an upgrade to a Junior Suite…’top of the range’ room. Joke…the website shows a...

"Our stay was a journey down memory lane for me. The hotel was still lovely and popular, the room was clean and albeit small as a twin, it was in keeping with such a historic building and the lady on the bar, who checked us in couldn’t be more welcoming. The kitchen even catered amazingly for a veggie and a vegan option breakfast.
The hotel is centrally located for the beautiful village of Eyam’s history trail, tea rooms and local walks with good parking facilities. "

"From checking in to checking out the experience was first class. The staff were warm and welcoming with a professional and friendly attitude. The breakfast was excellent as was dinner in the restaurant. We will definitely be back again. Thanks to everyone for making our wedding anniversary weekend so special."

"Room was adequate, the heated towel rail was on the other side of the bedroom wall so the bedroom was uncomfortably hot, even at night - but the wife preferred this. The bed was quite firm and a good size. It was difficult to view the TV screen from the settee on the back wall. Tea (Yorkshire) and coffees were plentiful - not so much biscuits. Full English, plus cereals, juice, toast and tea/coffee refills welcome."

"Good location, good price. Looks lovely from outside. However, inside, carpets needs cleaning as our feet were sticking to it. Kids room light was flickering, twice approached different members of staff but nothing was done. Not enough mugs in the room (only 2 in a family room)."

"We stayed in a beautiful hive which was nicely done and the hotel itself was beautiful. We were disappointed not to have a bath or to be able to use any the sauna facilities and that whole building seemed to be in the midst of renovation. We were also surprised that breakfast wasn’t included and that when we ordered English breakfasts we didn’t get any toast and when we asked for some were then charged £2.50 per slice. I feedback when we departed that I was not impressed but nothing was done...
