"The room was fine -- small, but clean. On the downside the bed was hard, and there was a fair amount of noise. There is no air conditioning or heater -- but the weather was moderate. The hotel is within close walking distance to the city center. But on the much bigger plus side, is that on both days my Expedia booked tour companies let me down, but the caring staff at Chankana Hotel (Hostel) went above and beyond to help salvage my entire trip! "The view was amazing from our room. They charged me $40 dollars for a late check out. We had 2 rooms. They said that we needed to pay for both rooms. Because if we payed for one room. only 2 people would be able to go in the room. We booked with Expedia. It said free breakfast included. They also charged us for breakfast at the hotel. "

"The hotel recently changed their name to Tierra Viva. We were not aware of that so there was a bit of confusion when we arrived. Pros- friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful natural setting. Very close to the train station without being right next to the tracks. Good selection for breakfast. Quaint and charming rooms. Cons- needs a little updating.(especially the Electrical outlets). I would definitely stay here again if I return."
