"The hotel looks awful from the outside, like an American run down Motel. Inside is a whole different ballgame, it’s been renovated to a high standard throughout. Room was comfy, great blackout curtains, quality bed and bedsheets. The only downside is that you have to pay for parking £8 for overnight, which I feel is ridiculous. "I paid for a room with a window the window does not open. Was so hot no air on. The room was not clean stains on the bedding the floor was covered in dust and human hair. You go into the bathroom there was a huge nail sticking out on the floor. Booked 2 people only got 1 towel? The staff behind desk was nice. But will never go back."

"The rooms. at the Essex Golf and Country Club are very nice and super clean. Be aware there is no in-room ac that we could find and just the smallest desk fan in the room but perhaps this is only an issue for 3 weeks a year! We arrived late (9.30pm) and check was smooth, went to the room and unpacked and notice in the room directory suggested the bar was open until 10.30pm. For us it just happened to be very near a wedding we were attending hence staying there and we paid £185 for a premium room for one night as we like our creature comforts including a decent size bed and mattress for a decent nights sleep. "The room we had was a little small but adequate for a short stay. Price very reasonable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast, food was good but they didn't replenish quickly enough. We had to ask for more coffee, pastries and eggs many times. However, the staff always acted to resolve the issues as soon as they could."
