"The whole place was charming and full of character. Check-in was fast and reception took us to our room personally. The room was beautifully decorated. The bathroom was modern and clean. A nice selection of teas and biscuits. This is not a negative but something to be aware of; since the building is older and refurbished, the stairs are a little narrow and lean so make sure you are comfortable with navigating not so perfect stairs if you choose to stay in the upper levels. "The hotel is nice and comfortable, I think what lets it down are the staff. I was totally ignored in the bar/restaurant area. I ended up eating at another hotel around the corner. No staff or coffee at breakfast, I ended up speaking to one of the cleaners to get coffee made. New house manager needed I think!"

"What an awesome hotel, everyone was friendly. No air conditiioning, but we survived well. Don't think that if you are from the states, you should rent a car. There are plenty of options for transportation vendors, the hotel will provide you the contacts. Beautiful part of the world."

"The best part of our stay was the food in the restaurant. It was exceptional. The worst part was the 38 steps up to our top floor room and the quarter mile walk to the car park. The bed was comfortable, the Nespresso coffee maker was nice and the shower was just OK, having only a rain head and no wand. The bar is great for what’s on the bar menu but lame for US cocktails. For instance, the bartender didn’t know what either a manhattan or Rob Roy was."
