Reasonable for price. No lift - there are four floors. I arrived slightly early for check-in but room ready and was no problem. Shower head limescaled, leaking teapot in room, window cobwebs and cracked. However, staff friendly and helpful - general cleanliness acceptable. Good sized room for a single. Great location, view from room good, quiet. Continental breakfast good. Good base to explore from.

Best hotel I’ve stayed been to in Cambridge at a very reasonable price. Impeccably presented, lovely helpful staff, comfortable bed, lovely clean room and a good shower. I would like to pass on One constructive comment. The directions to the hotel assume that you are technically savvy and are coming by car or taxi. I travelled to Cambridge by train and was going to the hotel by bus. There are no instructions on the hotels website and unfortunately, I Was given what appears to be incorrect information by the night receptionist. As a result I found myself on the new market Road, some distance from the hotel As I had walking difficulties at the time the hotel had to send a cab to collect me, which, to their credit they paid for. This could have been avoided had there been instructions on the website , other than that, it’s a superlative hotel, highly recommended.

This hotel is clean and pleasant, with friendly staff. Very close to the city centre about a 10 minute walk if that. Parking at the back of the hotel was not free as it states on the carpark. We had to pay £18 for one night as we booked through Expedia, and not directly through the hotel its self. I wouldnt advice eating at the hotel as it was very basic, and not very nice if im being honest. Continental breakfast is ok, but very basic. Other then that its a basic but pleasent hotel to stay in if you want to be close to everything.

The location of the hotel is excellent for central Cambridge, quiet area. The room was terrible, dirty, cobwebs on the ceiling. An unexpected charge of £15 as a damage waiver, this wasn’t mention at the booking stage. Avoid this hotel. Not worth £180 a night.

Pros: Very convenient for The Cambridge Half Marathon Cons: Staff pretty rude and bored looking. Property pretty tired and dilapidated, feels like an old people's home, very chintzy. Really noisy, walls very thin, stairs and doors make a lot of noise! Buffet breakfast was pretty limited.

The parking area was a decent size and close to the hotel. The room was a decent enough size for 1 person. Lovely to have tea and coffee available to drink. Nice bathroom. My only complaint is that there are lots of stairs to navigate to my particular room. Nice selection of food and drinks at breakfast time.

Good riverside location handy for the city centre.
Pleasant one night stay in a convenient location to be able to walk to a college reunion. Fair range of food and beverages provided for the continental breakfast. Those booking through sites such as Hotels.com rather than direct with the hotel need to factor in that parking at the hotel is an extra charge ( currently £18 per night).

Staff were friendly. Room was lovely with a view of the river. A bit noisy as no soundproofing. A bit old fashioned but charming. If you book direct with the hotel parking is free otherwise there is a charge. Perfect for the town’s amenities and museums - especially Kettle’s Yard.

Good option
This is a good hotel. Walking distance to downtown and many pubs and restaurants. A little dated, but clean. The continental breakfast had a good variety of items. One downside: The fire alarm went off after midnight but was quickly shut off.

We booked this property based on price and what we thouggt would be easy access to Cambridge city centre. Do not be fooled unless you are fit it is not anywhere near the centre. We wanted a place with car parking which the booking site said it had. It does have parking but as we booked through a third party it was an extra 18.00 pounds for one night. The breakfast included was a very poor quality continental. For a full English this was an additional £12.50 pp. Rip off. The room was adequate but the bathroom very dated, the shower screen was filthy as well as the tiles. Needs a full refit.

Lovely hotel, we had such a comfortable stay. Yes the hotel is old fashioned, that's part of its charm. The continental breakfast was good, the staff were warm and friendly, the bath was enormous! A nice walk across the river and park and you're in the city centre. Would definitely stay again.

Good but some improvements needed.
The hotel in general has a lovely charm and interior is in a gentle traditional taste with a good atmosphere. Check in was a nightmare as my keycard wouldn’t work and took the poor receptionist almost an hour to fix the problem! The room itself was very good and quirky with good tea and coffee facilities in the room and the bed was good too along with the spaciousness of the room although the shower was a tight fit and the shower poured out like a huge waterfall rather than like a rain style. When I requested to have the towels changed they were not changed and I had to ask at reception for them which took a bit of time up. Breakfast was ok but the full English breakfast was optional and a bit pricey at £12.50 for what you get. Good car park also but you are penalised for using it if I booked my hotel stay through an agent! This was £18.00 per night extra I had to pay! Evening meal at their restaurant was ok but again pricey for what you got. I would stay here again but I hope they improve on those points mentioned.

Liked the stay, positives: comfy bed and quiet room, some toiletries provided as well as tea and kettle. Restaurant on site, close to the park and amenities and lovely outside decorations. Negatives: shower water cold to tepid despite waiting for it to warm up, shower head black even though it was white (something gross growing on it), massive gap under the door allowing hallway light in that kinda disturbed my sleep. PS: Parking while "available" is not free. £18 to park per night. It's cheaper to park for free on the street between 5pm and 8am next day.

Faded elegance - somewhat down at heel. Decorated nicely outside. £18/day extra for privilege of parking there. Insufficient staff. Left waiting 5 mins to be meet greet at dining room, though food good quality and fair selection. Should you be given the broom cupboard euphemistically called room 200 ask immediately for a change of rooms as too near reception and the front door. First night awoken at 1am by guest banging on the front door for entry, and second night by the night staff at 3am talking and laughing at reception.

A little overpriced, when you consider you have to buy a cooked breakfast instead of it being included. Dated decor, no bottled water in rooms and hairs in the bathtub. The best thing about the hotel is the location.

A charming Victorian style Hotel just off the centre of Cambridge was spoilt by mouldy shower and walls that when reported to staff nothing was done.

Others have said it’s terrible or great so I’ll detail. Continental Breakfast reasonable though the croissant a bit underbaked and absolutely no offering of vegan or GF. Room and shower room were small and just acceptably clean although could have done with vacuuming into edges of carpets. I was pleased to find spare blanket till opened it and found a disgusting huge stain and I decided to put it back in cupboard, - motheaten carpet and mould in shower grouting though shower itself was clean. Worst was the noise of the heating - like a drill alternating with a hammer! This basic upkeep a problem; stairs seemed dangerously bendy under foot and didn’t like the look of cracks in ceiling in reception. It looks like the owners can’t manage the pretensions of the place; it needs investment.
