"The room wasn't very clean (quite a lot of dust), and there were random quilts in random cupboards (not clean ones), and the bedroom window was painted shut, which was frustrating during a heat wave.
There were a few unidentified noises of water sloshing or pouring from somewhere, both in the corner of the bedroom and in the bathroom, possibly due to being near a boiler, or just some residue from pipework. So this was a bit annoying through the night.
So, the room was very dated and a bit...

"Our family of 3 loved this place! It sits above a pub, room was clean and inviting, and the complimentary breakfast was top notch. Not your run of the mill continental breakfast, but a sit down, order from an extensive menu kind of meal. Everyone here was so friendly and helpful and the location was convenient to the town’s landmarks. Would definitely stay here again!"

"The hotel is perfectly placed in the centre of York and easy to get to. The staff were lovely and were able to accommodate giving us a lower-level room, which was so helpful (especially when pregnant in a heatwave!). There were lots of options available in the mini bar as well as teas, coffees, etc. The room was very comfortable and clean - we will definitely return next time we come to York."

"We entered the front and were met with a warm welcome at the bar. The place had a warm welcoming feel to it too. Once checked in we were taken to our room. The room was lovely. The bedroom was comfortable, clean and spacious. My wife and I immediately felt at home. The en-suite was also very clean and the shower was amazing. Was nice to freshen up after a long journey. There is a large car park at the rear and a lovely beer garden too. Slept well - beds were really comfy. As for breakfast - wow...

"A lovely inn situated in a peaceful village but very handy for visiting the attractions within York and the North Yorkshire National park.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly and our room was very clean and comfortable. We can recommend the food and drinks on offer in the air conditioned restaurant, both on the evening we stayed and for breakfast the following day. Top marks."
