"Lovely Japanese-style hotel with every amenity you could want: free coffee, onsen, laundry, robes, etc… Spacious, clean rooms. Loved the massage I booked! (As a side note: restaurants in the area close very early. We arrived after 7 pm and had no dining options. Apparently there is dining at the hotel restaurant if you book it as a package? We didn’t add it at the time of booking so we were left with dinner options from the mini mart across the street. Word to the wise. )"

"I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. A note for Americans and Europeans--this is a Japanese business-style hotel. It is small and functional and perfect as such. It is not a big resort hotel. It is not a spacious room for you to spread out in. It is functional and perfect for those who are there to enjoy the place and not the hotel itself. The hotel is wonderful and the staff are extremely nice. They are helpful with recommendations and holding luggage and very accommodating. The beds are a little on the softer side and the blankets are wonderfully pillowy. There is complimentary 2 bottles of water for your stay, as many business hotels provide. If you need more, there are stores in town to supply you. They have all the amenities you will need at hand. It is a nice and quiet place. The elevator is impressively small and barely fit me and my son and there is a step down when you get off on the ground floor that you should be aware of. But I absolutely loved this hotel. Anyone who gives it less than five stars doesn't understand what it is or its purpose."

"I loved staying at the Atagoya Guesthouse! Comfortable, traditional guesthouse in a quiet neighborhood. Great location. Near JR line and popular sites. Kenji was an exceptional host! Showed great concern for my wellbeing. Assisted above & beyond with bus schedule/directions and train ticket guidance. The kitchen has all the basics. Private eating area in the bedroom. No shared living space. This was a lovely refuge from the busy days of sightseeing."
