"You stay here for the location, which is ideal for walking to much of what Oxford offers. The building is old enough to be historic, something to keep in mind when choosing. Lots of atmosphere, small room with floor that slopes. The bed was very comfortable and the linens nice. I liked having the Nespresso machine in the room for coffee to go with my morning TV news. Bathroom nicely updated. I did object to the worn-out carpet and extremely dirty windows. For that I requested, and got, a reduction in the breakfast charge. Staff pleasant and helpful. Agreed about the carpet and said windows cannot be cleaned because of access constraints. Breakfast room pleasant and a good place to chat with fellow travelers.

"2nd time I’ve stayed here. Asked them to preserve me breakfast and the staff said they would as I was working lates. I even paid for the breakfast.
On both occasions the day staff denied I ever had that conversation with the night shift.
Really poor communication and very little compassion. Left feeling scammed out of quite a bit of money."
"Very good location, staff was amazing very nice cozy clean hotel. Area is really good close to everything. The only thing is the rooms are so so so small i got the double room with window its for one person no more ."
"The staff were so helpful and pleasant. We checked in early, the room was lively and clean, the water hot, the bed so comfortable! East to get to the city. Would stay here again!"
"The staff were so friendly, so helpful--ordering us a taxi, explaining about the Oxford Bus to Heathrow, etc. The concept of turning a prison into a hotel--wow! Our room was fabulous. The whole setting and what has been done with this enormous golden stone building is so imaginative and fun. Great location for walking/shopping in Oxford. Close to everything."
"Staff were incredibly polite and welcoming. Rooms were clean on arrival and maintained daily. The hotel was well placed for the city centre and had everything we needed for our weekend break."
