Residenza Centro Storico

"The location is everything. It’s about a 12 minute walk to the train station but there is also a bus right outside the property. It’s conveniently located within the walls and walkable everywhere with lovely places to pop for a drink or a bite to eat nearby. You do need to walk up some steep stairs to get to the rooms so beware if you aren’t packing light! The room we had was lovely with two spacious bedrooms that were divided by a door (a/c only in one and the interior person would have to walk through the other’s room to use the bathroom). The beds were very firm but comfortable and the large bathroom was well appointed. The shower did not drain well so you ended up standing in water but for a couple of nights, it wasn’t a problem. We appreciated the water and the sweets left for us on check in and the communal coffee machine was a nice touch (and the other guests were very quiet as well). Stefano was great at communicating check-in and welcomed us on time. I’d stay here again without hesitation."

"Check in is at a different building but there is no signage to explain. This hotel had no services like bar or restaurant, which required short walk to the other property. Shower was a handicapped shower with not glass protection in the shower so water was everywhere in the bathroom."

"Perfect place to stay. Greeted by Debora, an amazing host, I instantly felt as though I had known her for years. So helpful showing us around and telling us about Lucca with suggestions of what to do and see. So much detail in the room, plenty of luxurious towels, a hair dryer with a diffuser for all you curly haired people, beautifully decorated, modern, all toiletries provided, access to a kitchen which was home from home where there was endless water, sparkling water, tea, coffee, cookies and pastries. Access to a fridge. It was a real joy to stay there. Debora also provided ear plugs as others have mentioned there can be some noise from the bar next door. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Perle D’Ambre."

"This place was great. We loved the location and the breakfast were outstanding. Room was large and cool. We had a bathtub and it was very relaxing and comfortable. they even had a bicycle we used to drive around the city walls. Loved it!"

"Our third stay here, which should tell you everything. The ideal location is a few minutes walk from the heart of Lucca in a quiet little back alley, each room is a little bit of heaven, thoughtfully curated to make them all a cosy home from home with lovely views across the city rooftops. The staff are superb and can't do enough for you and the alfresco breakfast to die for. Looking forward to my next visit."
