The area balances exclusive tourist areas with quiet residential streets lined with palm trees and tropical gardens. Despite its luxury status, the area maintains a welcoming atmosphere with authentic Swahili architecture throughout.

Old Town Mombasa

Old Town Mombasa welcomes you to a UNESCO World Heritage site where history unfolds along narrow winding streets. Centuries-old Swahili architecture showcases a blend of Arab, Portuguese, and Indigenous influences dating back to the 13th century. Fort Jesus dominates the skyline with impressive coral stone walls and Portuguese cannons. Traditional bazaars buzz with activity as vendors sell spices, textiles, and handcrafted goods. Ornate wooden doors with brass studs adorn coral stone buildings throughout this cultural treasure. Walking these ancient alleys offers authentic immersion into Kenya's coastal cultural mosaic.

Shanzu

Shanzu delights visitors with pristine white sand beaches along Kenya's stunning Indian Ocean coastline. Palm trees sway above turquoise waters where resort properties offer direct access to swimming and water sports. This beach paradise balances natural beauty with tourist comfort. The resort-dominated area features international restaurants serving fresh seafood and Swahili cuisine. Beach vendors sell handcrafted souvenirs and colourful kikoy fabrics along the shore. Beyond the beach, visitors can explore nearby Bamburi Beach and Nguuni Nature Sanctuary.

Galu Beach

Unique features of Galu Beach include the beaches and restaurants. Make a stop by Galu Kinondo Beach or Colobus Conservation while you're exploring the area.

Tudor

If you're looking for some top things to see and do in Tudor and surrounding area, you can visit Mombasa Island and Fort Jesus.

Serena Beach Resort and Spa

Serena Beach Resort and Spa

10/10 Excellent
"I have stayed at the Serena several times over the past 20 years. In fact, of the 80 countries I have visited the Serena in Mombasa is still my favorite place in the world. The staff, including front dest staff (namely, Althuman) and the wait staff are outstanding. Many are long-term staff who have obviously been well-trained in customer service. The Maisha Spa is always worth a visit. The property is beginning to show signs of aging so I hope there are plans to upgrade it, while not loosing its Swahili Coast charm. I have been a fan for a long time and will be back again!"

Kilua Residences by CityBlue, Mombasa

8/10 Good
"Even as a family of 5 we found our 3 bedroom sea view apartment to be extremely spacious and well-equipped, with en-suite shower rooms to the 2 twin bedrooms and both a dressing area and en-suite bathroom with separate shower to the master bedroom - there was also a full-sized kitchen, lounge, dining area, laundry room, separate WC and huge balcony with outside dining and seating areas. The room and hotel in general were well maintained by Kenyan standards and very clean - the only drawback was the intermittent hot water which is a common occurrence in the whole country. The breakfast offered a good choice of food and drinks, as did the 24hr room service menu, both of which were of good quality and value for money - however there is no alcohol available. The service was very friendly, although at times a little slow. We also ate at a couple of local restaurants but there isnโ€™t a wide range to choose from - there are also limited services (ie shops) nearby. The pool is very spacious with very helpful attendants - however more sun-loungers are needed. The location is about 45 minutes from the airport and the centre of Mombasa but there are plenty of Uber drivers to drive you around."
