Room was clean, fairly large, and having washing machine in the room was a blessing.
Location seemed initially to be a bit remote - but in fact it was smack in the middle of everything we wanted to visit and easy walk to Sanjo (restaurants galore!).
Definitely recommend Stay Sakura.

Very clean. Located on a quiet but major transport street. Bus stop right outside the hotel. Subway station around the corner. I found it very easy to get around Kyoto by bus from this hotel. There were at least 3 bus routes that passed by. Subway station was around the corner. Fresco grocery store was down the block. Family Mart was also down the block. MacDonald and other restaurants were close by as well. The kitchenette allowed us to bring in food and eat in the room while do our laundry! Walking 2 blocks takes you to the heart of the shopping district.

The staff was very friendly; one Vietnamese receptionist was very patient in helping me get a hold of my airline to change my flight 🙏
Location is just a bit further north but still walkable to Gion.

I loved this hotel. I didnt have a single problem with this property. I accidentally showed up to check in an hour late and they didnt give me an issue about it. Its in a great location and is close to public transportation. The room was clean, spacious and had everything you could need in a hotel room. Very happy with this pick
Location is good. But you have to check in at the central office at nearby Kyoto station

Close to train station and walking distance to great restaurants and bars. Great assistance from the front desk helping us to locate an item we left on the train.
Accommodation is modern and fresh, and reasonably spacious. Located close to trains and buses and a short walk from Gion district.
Note when checking in, go to the Kyoto Stay Japan Guest Service Center which is located on Karasuma dori across the road from the Daiwa Roynet Hotel and next to Family Mart.

This was a centrally located property, affordable and clean. A special shout out to the receptionist Mark - who spoke great English and give us very good directions on what to do and how to get about. He gave us the recommendation of the Toji temple at night and we absolutely loved it. Thank you Mark for making our trip to Kyoto so seamless and wonderful!
The room (a serviced apartment) was a good size and, apart from a few missing items (knife, bowls), was well kitted out. The location is very good. Negatives are that staff do not speak much English and the furniture in the room is not as well arranged as it could be. In particular, two twin beds was too much for a room of this size and more space for hanging clothes could have been provided.

Our rooms were not cleaned on any day. Front desk staff had issues communicating in english
Nice and clean hotel but beware of luggage storage
The hotel is very clean and modestly nice. It's just what we needed in our Kyoto stay. I have nothing negative to say about the condition of this hotel as it is very well-kept and the rooms have everything we needed.
My complaint is about the lack of support from the reception and the 1,500 yen charge to keep the luggage. I had a fit and complained about this and they didn't end up charging me in the end. It's not a cheap hotel so we shouldn't have to pay for keeping our luggage on our check-out day. I've never had any hotel (expensive or cheap) charge me for luggage storage.
The location is OK. It doesn't really have a lot of restaurants or stores around it but it's walkable to the city center (maybe 10 mins minimum) and Gion (20 mins).
The place has an excellent location. It is like 200 m from the Higashiyama Metro Station. There are many touristic attractions nearby. I was staying in a Superior Apartment with two beds. The apartment was clean and air-conditioned, which worked quietly. A part of the apartment is a small kitchen equipped with a small ceramic two-heater stove, fridge, microwave, sink, and a washing machine. I have to admit that I have not used the kitchen, but it is a nice feature for peoples who like to eat their own meals. The internet is free and has sufficient speed. The staff is nice and helpful.
Now some limitation that one should know about:
- The reception is only open from 16 until 23. No one is there the rest of the time. I have locked out myself and had to call their central office. However, within 20 minutes somebody has come and let me in. I am not sure how this would work at night when the central office is closed.
- There is no wardrobe in the room but only a standing hanger on which many clothes will not hang.
- The apartment is being cleaned every few days.
- The entrance to the hotel is partially below the ground. Windows in rooms at level 1 face a solid wall (no view). I have to admit that it was not bothering me as my goal was to explore Kyoto, not to stay in the apartment. On the other hand, having the apartment partially below the ground made it very quiet.
- Almost all controls have Japanese descriptions, so be sure to bring some online translator.
