Beautiful hotel and experience! The rooms were clean and the onsen was such a nice experience. Close to all the shopping and restaurants. Truly a gem! We booked the traditional Japanese style room and had no complaints
We came here to start our honeymoon. They decorated our room and have us two drink tickets for the bar. Everyone was so nice and the breakfast was perfect! We loved where this hotel was situated that it was close by everything but not right off the main road.
Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms. Check in was quick and easy with a pamphlet of all hotel information given at arrival. Amazing location, centre near Gion and main Kyoto central street with quick walking distance to temples and the food market street.
Hotel was in a good location and in generally good condition. Check-in process needs improvement. Twin rooms are very small for two people. The onsen was nice to have.
Wonderful onsen to relax in with beautiful products to use afterwards. Face masks, moisturisers and lotions available in the foyer for free. Snacks and drinks provided in the foyer for free when relaxing and planning activities. Easy to walk to restaurants, shops, train stations and many shrines. Our room was beautiful, spacious and quiet.
What an amazing stay in the heart of Gion with an easy walk to everything. Lots of eateries close by and a 2 minute walk to the station and Main Street of Gion. The service is excellent and we loved the amenity bar stocked with toiletries. The room is comfortable and quiet you just need to use your ninja skills to get in and out of the bed we booked the king room so there is no space to walk around the bed. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
This is the 2nd time I’ve been to this property. This time we went we with our teenage girls. And booked two separate rooms.
Pro:
Location is awesome. You walk 5 minutes & you are right on main street where you can see Geishas. There’s restaurants everywhere. Tight next door is a yakitori and high end wagyu restaurant. Walking distance to trains as well.
Room is basic, better than some others. In Kyoto, it’s either high end, $800+ per night or really yucky hotels. Granbell is affordable but still decent.
Con:
Rooms are small. They don’t offer room service every day. Breakfast is okay. This property does not have adjoining rooms but we were able to get rooms on same floor.
Net net, I would return for the location alone.
Excellent location, walking distance to the Yasaka Shrine, amazing service by the staff member. Big public bath was nice and clean, made you feel so relaxed. If I'm coming back to Kyoto, I would select this hotel.
Great location and the onsen is really nice- rooms are a little on the smaller side and can be hot, but the garden view we had was great. Kyoto is not a place to spend too much time in the room anyways so definitely recommend for the prime location in Gion!

This hotel was an excellent choice for our first visit to Kyoto! Great location, good amenities, comfy rooms!
Excellent hotel in an excellent centralized location near everything! The staff were extremely helpful, especially when it came time to ship our luggage. They handled everything for us. We didn’t eat the buffet at hotel but there are plenty of restaurants just a few steps away which were excellent. Highly recommend!
This is in an ideal location for walking around Gion and Pontocho and the Nishiki areas. The hotel has a yummy breakfast and the staff is very helpful. Bonus we got essential laundry done in their machines ( easy to use) . The rooms are small but functional. The hotel is on a peaceful street and minutes from anything you would need. 10/10 my family will stay there again
This is a very nice boutique hotel with great service and nice facilities, but the best thing about it is the location in Gion district. You are just steps away from the busy streets and alleys full of shops and restaurants, but the hotel is very quiet. Staff is friendly and attentive. Walk to temples or to shops with ease. Breakfast is an awesome buffet of western and Japanese cuisine. Highly recommended.
