"Good for an overnight stay when traveling"

"Sent the same enquiry three times before arrival - no response. Arrived exhausted at 1am. Given a room key that didn't work. Returned to lobby for replacement plus spare. Back up to the room only to find neither worked and could hear people in the room walking up. Back down a third time to be given a shabby room on its last legs. All in all a bit of a dump. Not recommended at all."

"We were welcomed by a lovely lady on reception. The room and bathroom were extremely clean and very comfortable. The young waitress in the restaurant was lovely! We visited for the university open day and she gave my granddaughter lots of tips on uni life at Hertfordshire. Charming young woman…. A credit to the hotel! I plan to visit my granddaughter regularly and would most definitely stay at the Comet when I do. "

"It was spacious and (too) warm. Breakfast and reception staff very lovely and helpful. Difficult to find reception in the dark as estate signage is a problem. Not enough towels in the room for two people but reception rectified immediately, which was a good response. Door to loo didn’t close properly and we could not turn off the towel rail or radiator, but we reported and hopefully these small glitches will be rectified. But good value, convenient location, a comfortable bed and strong shower."

"Been going to this hotel for over 30 years. It’s a bit tired now, rooms mainly. This said it’s still very reasonable to stay there & breakfasts are good with several choices. This stay the window was open in our room when we arrived -the handle was missing & it couldn’t be close. We couldn’t telephone reception as the phone wasn’t connected & said on the phone it was from room 136 -this wasn’t our room. Maintenance man didn’t come immediately as I was told so we waited a little while however my...

"Stayed here as my little girl played at the hive and we needed somewhere close by. Parked on the drive way right outside the door, keys were in a key safe and details were sent on the day how to get in the safe. The hallway as you enter is spotless, as was our room, tea, coffee, water and a fridge in the room. Very pleasant place to stay, paid £60 for a Wednesday night, knowing what i know now i think it's a bargain. Highly recommended. "
