"The owner is nice as can be, but unfortunately I have to be honest in this review- My night there was not pleasant by any means. Parking was a bit of an issue as the bar/restaurant loaded the parking lot and then there were cones out on the far end of the parking area which really made it hard to park. Front door to the room didn't entirely shut which allowed flying bugs into the room all night. There were gnats or something all over the room- on the pillow, on the bed, in the bathroom. ...

"The room we stayed in had mice that ran across our TV. We notified the staff and were told the manager would contact us and we never received a call. The rooms are clearly not maintained well. The property itself is old and falling apart. I do not recommend staying here."

"My husband and I stayed at The Chatwal Lodge (about two hours from NYC) and it’s easily one of the best resorts we’ve been to. It feels incredibly private and secluded—it seemed like there were only ~20 guests on property—so the whole experience was calm and special. We booked the Treehouse, which was awesome: modern, spotless, and beautifully designed with a great vibe. "We enjoyed the fact that the property was peaceful and we had a beautiful view of the lake. As for the villa we stayed in, not so great. The furniture was old and outdated. The mattress was very old and uncomfortable. We could not get a good night's sleep because the bed was sinking in from the middle. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE PICTURES. We were very disappointed, but made the best of what we believed to have over paid for. No disrespect to the staffing of this property, they were friendly....

"I have been around the Lake Wally/Hawley + area for 40yrs (first owning a small summer place on the lake & as a local camp nurse for 20yrs), I always wanted to stay at Settlers--dined there many times--visited the gift shop, even looked into the rooms--finally got the chance--Wonder/Beautiful/Tranquil/Unique!!!"

"The bar/restaurant downstairs had a good selection of liquor, but the kitchen was closed by the time I got there. I was able to grab a drink & sit on the porch. The room was great, the staff was friendly - would definitely consider this for a trip to Milford or the Delaware Water Gap or surrounding areas."
