"We stayed for 3 nights, we were out and about most of the time so didn’t eat or use the bar but the staff were excellent and very helpful when we asked for things at reception. The renovation didn’t impact us at all and it’s nice to see that they’re bringing the decoration up to date. Our room was clean, modern, spacious and well equipped and the lounge was a blessing. We really enjoyed our stay and won’t hesitate to book here the next time we are in town."

"The spa is the only thing that saves this hotel as without it it would be a very poor hotel. Rooms are very dated, our bed was like a camp bed very uncomfortable. Breakfast in Sage took an hour to be served and it wasn’t even busy. Give staying guests at least the option to go get yoghurt and pastries etc. while they wait for the breakfast cooked meal, having to wait for everything to be served is really old hat these days. "My second stay here and the experience both times has been very similar. It is a stunning building in beautiful grounds. Some of the staff are really nice but some really couldn't care less. On this trip the gentleman on breakfast just barked "room number" when I approached. He didn't offer me any tea or coffee either - although I heard him offer someone else some. "This is definitely a hotel where you will find peace and tranquility. The balcony experience was amazing. The location is excellent, in a very quiet area. Perhaps the only drawback is the lack of a refrigerator in the room, but the fact that it's a pub could be a reasonable justification."
