"We arrived at the hotel early, did all the booking in, left our bags with reception, and went into York. On returning we collected our keys and our bags were taken up to our room. "Was disappointed to find that there was no available gym in the hotel, even though it is advertised as such. The sofa bed in the room was broken, as was the air-conditioning. Staff attempted to fix it but didn’t make a difference. When we visited, there was a pile of mattresses sitting in the lobby. Surely there’s a better way to manage this. We shared our complaints with staff at the hotel but they showed little interest so I hope management will take note "

"Really lovely stay at The Grand - hotel room is spacious, clean and comfortable and added touch of chocolates/anniversary card. We did receive our Expedia VIP benefit of £20 food/wine credit but actually didn't realise we had so would have been good for this to be noted. We also enjoyed the spa in the morning and the breakfast (though at £25 , make sure you're hungry). Lovely 1906 bar too with live music. Walkable to York. "
