Easily THE BEST experience in Kota Kinabalu. Not just the best hotel, the best experience. Exceptionally well managed. The staff here is amazing and when you've come a long long distance (California) that is so so appreciated. There are lower cost hotels, but there is no better value than this Hyatt in KK. After 34 hours of flying, to arrive and know that I will be 100% taken care of, is invaluable. I have stayed here now five trips to Borneo, and every time, everything is perfect. Especially the cleanliness. My room is always pristine. The cleaners work super super hard to make sure of that fact. And as well the staff at the front desk is always smartly assessing and managing your stay. And at breakfast, just love the staff and chefs, amazing food, amazing service, again 100% taken care of. Overpriced for the price. Not the 5* rating it’s listed as. Hotel is tired and needs a refresh. We were in a king ocean view room and it completely needed a renovation. Advertise a shuttle but it’s so limited in reality it’s pointless and easier to take a taxi. Long queue for breakfast buffet.

I had an incredible stay at the Empire, Brunei. The hotel and grounds are stunning and I made the most of the incredible spa, the onsite cinema and the pool and beach. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating and really made it a truly special stay. The rooms were amazing and the sea view is unmissable.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Shangri la. The hotel is beautiful and the food was amazing. I wish I had asked for the receipe for some of the breakfast dishes!! Staff were very pleasent and always willing to help. Thank you Mariana for cleaning our room and leaving a lovely birthday message for my friend.

Great location- nice, clean hotel. I would stay again. Poor on amenities. Didn’t have face/head towels; cups for toothbrushes or shelves for shower (for soaps and such); not enough toilet paper given - must ask for converter for hair dryer and kettle. No slippers.
