The Convention Centre Dublin

The Convention Centre Dublin which includes a city, modern architecture and a river or creek
Spot this futuristic crystal building rising high in the dockyards and cycle along the grassy banks of the adjacent canal.

The Convention Centre Dublin is an award-winning structure of space-age design in the Docklands part of the city. It consists of a tilted cylinder of blue glass flanked by curved gray blocks. Look up at the ultramodern structure at night, when rows of lights illuminate it in myriad colors.

Capture photos of the intriguing convention center from across the river. The lights that cover the structure change color depending on branded sponsorship and festivals. Purchase tickets online to one of the concerts and shows performed in the building. Exhibitions and business conferences are also held here. Enjoy spectacular views of the river and the Dublin skyline from one of the upper floors.

Request a tour for a guided trip around the building. See its many halls and meeting rooms that hold important banquets. Without a tour, the site is not generally open to the public.

Learn the facts behind the intriguing site, which holds up to 8,000 people across 22 meeting rooms. Highlights include a 2,000-seat auditorium and large exhibition spaces.

Attend an event in the conference building, which is known for its environmentally friendly features and has won 31 industry awards. Parts of the singing reality series The X Factor were filmed here. Construction of the site took 12 years before completion in 2010, due to delays from legal and planning issues.

Stay at one of the large hotels surrounding the convention center. Boutiques, restaurants and cafés are dotted around the area. Stroll past the tall buildings of the financial sector which drive a large proportion of Ireland’s economy.

The Convention Centre Dublin is on the northern bank of the River Liffey at the point where the Royal Canal joins it. Part of the Dublin Docklands zone, it is just east of the city center. Ride a train to Docklands or a tram to Spencer Dock. Nearby landmarks include the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and Central Square. Pay to park your car in the building’s underground parking lot.
