"The Dean Court is a charming boutique hotel that was completed in 1865 as Clergy residences for York Minster which the hotel is in the shadow of. Because you are staying in a heritage building there can be some charming challenges such as creaky floors and low clearance doorways. Despite that the positives far outweigh any challenges you may encounter. Everything is walkable from the Dean Court and there are several great pubs feet from your front door many of which offer a Sunday Roast menu....

"A wonderful, clean,air condtioned room and staff can be contacted 24/7 if any problems. Bed was very comfortable and being left a small bottle of milk in the fridge was a nice touch. Parking was no problem at all in front of buillding. Did have any food but all looked lovely. Would definately recommend."

"Was disappointed to find that there was no available gym in the hotel, even though it is advertised as such. The sofa bed in the room was broken, as was the air-conditioning. Staff attempted to fix it but didn’t make a difference. When we visited, there was a pile of mattresses sitting in the lobby. Surely there’s a better way to manage this. We shared our complaints with staff at the hotel but they showed little interest so I hope management will take note "

"The staff at Ascot House were great. The breakfasts are pretty much set with some exceptions if you don't like something, the chef tries to accommodate when it's possible which is a great thing to be able to offer. The owner June does a great job with keeping Ascot House friendly and accessible to all people. We had a lovely time staying here and visiting York."

The bed was comfortable and clean, air conditioner worked great and the shower was excellent. "The hotel has a modern/hip vibe, starting with the lobby which is centered around the bar that also serves as the check-in desk. This is where breakfast is served. The room was modern, well maintained and functional, but a little tight on space for 2-people with large suitcases. There is no closet or draws (a few coat-hooks) and so plan to live out of your suitcases. It is well located a short distance from the Shambles, Minster and other attractions. "I stayed only a few nights and had wonderful experience. Place is relatively easy to find - this relaxing walk through the green park was a big joyful bonus. Very clean room, comfy bed, good shower. Attention to detail in any aspect. So, it was a real pleasure to return to my room after spending a day in a busy town. Thank you Fiona and Ricardo for making my stay so special.
