We toured Louisiana a while back and spent a couple of nights at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park.
It was pretty cool to be surrounded by such unspoiled nature.
You have a couple of options for your stay there: camping or one of their waterside cabins. We opted for the later and it was an amazing experience - especially the alligators swimming under our porch!
There are a lot of activities around: boat, canoe, cycling, and some nice walks.

"The pool no longer exists.. This was an absolute AMAZING place to experience! 0 complaints. The breakfast was not heavy or huge, it was perfect!! We had the Juliette suite and OMG, I have never had the experience of a full walk in closet with all the bells and whistles and a HUGE jacuzzi and shower suite. Bed and pillows were soft snd comfortable, the room.had those cool wood slat blinds that you pull shut and open. The property is massive and so relaxing to walk around. Security is awesome,...
