"We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. Just plan ahead if you’re staying on a Sunday as many restaurants were closed but we found a gem in Cinfaes - Sabores e...

One staff member in particular was there the entire time we were, and gave us wonderful recommendations, He was so kind and so helpful … basically putting together an itinerary for our day with some fantastic suggestions. He also orchestrated our breakfast – which was delicious! Aside from that, the location is very central. It's a busy area with a great view of the river and lots of activity! I highly recommend staying here."
