"The hotel it's small but super clean and well done. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom huge. The only thing is that is on a quiet neighborhood so it's like 20 minute walk to the canal and Nishiki market but still centric enough. Also, the futon sounds like a good idea until the second night and your hips are dying...just saying. It's not as easy as you think if you are 35 or older..."

"we had an amazing time at Seryo!! the staff was immediately incredibly welcoming and showed us all the amenities and our wonderful room with a perfect garden view. the food was incredible and they even adjusted everything to be vegan for me!! we unfortunately had a less than desired experience at a different ryokan right after our perfect experience at Seryo which just affirmed that Seryo was the right decision!! highly recommend and would love to go back again in the future! And we ended up in nearby underground jazz bar Zac Baran twice, as well as a tiny local restaurant about 15 minutes walk west, same side of street as hotel, called kawahigashi (it also says 'food and beverage' in English outside).
