I thought I chose a Nile view, but was surprised with the lack of a view and noise. They did stop the music at 10pm. That said, it's still one of the best hotels in the area and it was pretty."

"Howard Carter Hotel - what a find. Read all reviews and wasn't disappointed. From the very outset, we had a small issue with our room and was moved the next day into another room with no hesitation. I was one of a few guests at the hotel and felt/was treated like royalty. The owner is a wonderful, kind, and helpful woman. The hotel offers a free boat to cross to the east bank which was a blessing. With the hotel being on the West Bank, there is little noise at night meaning you can hear all the sounds the Nile has to offer. Absolutely wonderful...

"Rooms are dated, but clean. Location on the Nile is very nice and breakfast is very good. Staff are too pushy with tipping, making the stay unpleasant. Taxi drivers outside the hotel are also very pushy, making it difficult to sometimes leave the hotel."

"This hotel is atrocious. The positive reviews on Expedia are fraudulent. The entire hotel (our room included) smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The towels and bedding are stained brown. The AC barely works and the WiFi is nonexistent. The food was terrible. cold, stale, and bland. I’m a seasoned, international traveler. This hotel is much worse than an $11 hotel room in Vegas."
