The staff and manager at The Fairmont, Manila, Ms Kathleen Yap, stand out as phenomenal. I arrived very early to Manila after an 11 hour flight and they were kind enough to offer me at 10:00 am check- in. As I had a meeting I could not accept and so they escorted me to the Spa to change and get ready. I returned in the evening but there was no hot water in the room but I was too exhausted to inform the hotel staff. I had to leave at 4:30 am and still there was no hot water. When I called the front desk at 3:20 am to report that, the front desk offered me to move to another room but I had no time. They called again to let me know that I didn’t need to move but can use another room two doors down to shower which I did. I went to check out and the manager herself with the front desk staff were waiting for me with breakfast to go. I had not selected breakfast option before. Not only she had several options ready for me, she had 4 different drinks because she wasn’t sure about my preference. She has tea, hot chocolate, coffee, juice and water. I think she went above and beyond. Though hot water can be found in almost every hotel, such consideration and attention to details and graciousness are hard to find let alone at 4:00 am by the manager. I will definitely choose this hotel again if or when I come back to Manila.
