"We stayed overnight at The Gateway Inn for a nearby family function and it was absolutely lovely - we wish we could have stayed longer and definitely intend to come back. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms and bar/restaurant are all comfortably and beautifully finished. Our room was impeccably cleaned, furnished beautifully and had lovely amenities included (toiletries and tea/coffee, biscuits). "A great location to stop after a long drive. Very convenient. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was spotless with lovely locally sourced products. Whilst we didn't eat dinner here it was busy and there us a children's play area too. We ate at the Hare & Hounds; a very pleasant 20 minute walk away. There is plenty of car parking spaces at the Gilpin. The breakfast is very basic. We would definitely stay again but not opt for the breakfast."

There are 2 main roads each side of the hotel and it was very noisy.when booking they did say they didn't have a car park,but it was ok to use the hotel across the road,there isn't an hotel across the road.the only parking was a cricket club 500mtrs plus down the Rd to park at"

"Beautiful hotel. The patio was fantastic, but only two parasols available for about eight tables outside. The staff were so very friendly and helpful. Lovely views overlooking Lake Windermere in the distance. The breakfast and lunch were brilliant. We took a walk around the gardens and tarn which were delightful. Free duck food is available at reception."

"Craig and Tommy were excellent welcoming hosts and they couldn’t do enough to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We loved the quirkiness, laid back feel, and atmosphere of the Ryebeck. The food was very good and we wish to pass on our compliments to the chef. The hotel’s location and its views across the Windermere are wonderful. We will certainly look to stay again. "My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was clean and lovely, the staff were friendly and kind, and the breakfast was very filling and delicious. Also, the hotel has spacious parking, and it is not too far from Windermere station, the lake, or many restaurants and shops. Each is about a 10-15-minute walk away. I would strongly recommend this hotel as a comfortable base for enjoying the Lake District. The only slightly disappointing point was that we were not informed...

"The Puddle Duck was one of THE BEST places we have ever stayed in! When we arrived, all we could smell were the roses, coming from the incredibly beautiful garden. The property is absolute perfection! We arrived a few hours earlier than planned, but the owner took us right up to our room. It was spotless, spacious and beautifully decorated. The attention to detail here is unlike most other places. Nothing has been missed and everything has been tailored to provide you with a perfect stay....

"Room was clean and location was perfect. We headed to bowness for an evening cruise, was lovely and easy to walk back to hotel. If you’re booking through a third party then please be aware of a parking charge, we paid £10 for two days we stayed, was not too bad, although limited parking on site, and we could always use the overflow parking. Breakfast was nice too. Overall was a good stay."
