The family room is spacious for 4 and spotless. Hotel staff is very friendly and delivered excellent service. The location is convenient to shopping areas and metro.
Excellent service, I guess newly renovated hotel so everything is brand new. Since it’s an apartment hotel, house keeping isn’t offered but that’s absolutely fine by us, location is also very central and lots of restaurants around
This hotel was the best one of our trip by far. We shared a room with our two kids and it was incredibly spacious with a separate living area and curtains between the beds. There is a free coffee machine downstairs as well as a small bar where you can have a glass of winen or sake on the house. The washer/dryer in the room is super convenient. I highly recommend this hotel!
Amazing drinks in lobby with happy hour at check in. Beds and linens slept were great. Even had tub, seperate shower and clothes washer/dryer. Will definitely stay here again. Staff was extremely helpful sending luggage to next hotel.
Wonderful experience staying in this beautiful newly renovated hotel. Staff were wonderful and there was genuine authentic hospitality. Rooms were very comfortables and the whole hotel was so quiet and peaceful. Complimentary hot and cold drinks and snacks were great and overall we had a fantastic stay. Thank you
The property was close to train lines and convenience stores. We walked to Nishiki Market within 10-15 minutes and there were several small shops to enjoy along the way. There’s also a small but very nice shopping center a block away with interesting shops and restaurants. Enjoyed our stay and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. Liked having their free coffee downstairs in the lobby and took advantage of their amenities drawers at check-in.
Our favorite room in our entire stay in Japan! It was spacious - definitely plenty of room for our family of three (2 adults, 1 toddler).having a washer / dryer in room was a definite plus!
The staff was so welcoming - Japanese hospitality at its finest. They were so eager to help & answer all our questions - made it so easy / simple despite our language barriers.
I think the hotel was so new the beds were still definitely on the more firm side! But the entire stay was cozy and the perfect place to unwind after long days of walking! Would stay again!
Of all the places we stayed during our Japan trip, this was the best hotel we stayed in. The service was impeccable. When we checked in the staff welcomed us with tea and sat us down to explain our room reservation and amenities. The room we booked was surprisingly large. There was plenty of space for lounging. Everything looked new and clean. The one quirk I would mention is the toilet is located on one side of the room and the bath and sink is on other side. No big deal but something we had to get used to coming from the US. Location was excellent because it was an easy 10-15 minute walk to Nishiki market and Teramachi street. The shrines and temples are easy subway trips about 10-15 min away. There is a metro station entrance right around the block. We will totally stay here again next time we come to Kyoto.
This was by far the best service I’ve ever experienced at any hotel. From the moment we arrived, the male attendant/manager greeted us with genuine warmth and professionalism. He went above and beyond to assist us with every need — his kindness and attention to detail made us feel truly cared for.
The hotel itself is immaculate — spotlessly clean, modern, and incredibly comfortable. Our suite was spacious, beautifully designed, and perfectly maintained, making it a joy to come back to each day. The location couldn’t be better — convenient to everything yet peaceful and quiet at night.
Every member of staff we encountered was exceptional, but the manager’s hospitality truly made our stay unforgettable. It’s rare to find that level of sincerity and care in customer service.
Without hesitation, I would stay at Hanare by Tokyo Stay again every time I visit Kyoto. It’s an absolute gem — elegant, welcoming, and a true example of Japanese hospitality at its finest.
I would pick the hotel again. Location was good. Our room was big (for Japan). They give you many goodies. Breakfast was delicious. Price was very good.
It may be a new-ish hotel. The rooms certainly seem new. The hotel is a block away from the metro (3 stops from Kyoto station) on a quiet side street. There are many restaurants in the area and two 7-11s nearby (for snacks, etc).
The hotel breakfast is across the street which could be inconvenient with bad weather. The food was excellent and they vary it a bit each day. We loved the French toast.
WiFi worked very well. Our room had a w/d which worked very well. Cleaning / staff were excellent. They give you many goodies (tea, snacks) and there is a coffee machine in the lobby. They also have a sake machine open in the evenings.
We booked a room which had a small living room area - superconvenient. There was no external / internal noise at wall. There's not much of a view since it's a small hotel on a side street.
The price was excellent - likely bc it had just opened.
All in all, it was a great value and everything was amazing.

This hotel was amazing for me and my Fiance. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the front desk staff. They walked us over to the lobby area and gave us tea while they checked us in and took my payment information. Once that was settled we were excited to know they offered sake and snacks every day until 7PM and coffee/italian soda until 11PM. This saved us so much on spending money for drinks.
They also had a drawer of amenities including toothbrushes, razors, comb, lotion and more. We had our luggage forwarded to the hotel and it was waiting for us in our room. The hotel has 5 floors. We got a room in the 2nd floor and were given 2209. It was directly behind the elevator but did not bother us as you can’t hear anything just the occasional draft wind noise it makes when it’s going up.
The room was spacious. I got the signature twin and it was more than enough space for 2 people.
I really loved the living space area. It had a full futon perfect for resting after a long day of exploring. The beds were really comfortable not too firm or soft. The bathroom was separate from the shower/sink area. The sink counter had 2 separate sinks perfect for a couple. Plenty of counter space. The washer/dryer in the room was also really easy to use and so convenient. Overall this place was great and perfect for our 6 night stay. The Karasuma line is super close by which is perfect for exploring the city. Also there is a 7-11 down the street. Don’t hesitate to book a room!!!
