Fabulous location in the heart of "downtown" Kyoto - yet calm and quiet. Many great restaurants, shops and sights close by. And the river and canals for strolling and picnics. Our only complaint - and this was true of every accommodation we stayed in in Japan - it would be great to have robe hooks and towel bars/racks in the bathing area!

Great hotel, beautifully decorated and extremely well located, right down on the river walk, in city center with plenty of options for restaurants and a subway station. Room was comfortable and spacious. Friendly and professional staff We took the breakfast option and both food and seevice were excellent. If you travel with kids, check the activities they organize at the hotel.

It’s my second time there. Staff is exceptional and I always stay in the garden room. It’s convenient to nearly everything including the Kyoto Museum of Art, Another C (great Restuarant, get a reservation), Nishikki Market, convenience stores, good ramen, cafes, etc. Not cheap, but lots of value.

The room was so small it was impossible to get organized for 2 people with 1 luggage each. Also there was no clear window. just a translucent one which gave us a claustrophobic feeling. On the positive side the breakfast was good. But given the price I find it unacceptable (we stayed 2 years ago at the cross hotel nearby. much better value dor money
