"We stayed for one night at this hotel - it was fantastic. One of the best features is that it is up in the hills close to the chairlift site up to the volcanic cone. It is also far away from the very touristy coastal region and nestling in some very expensive privately owned homes, which were very pleasant to drive around. There is nobody staffing the hotel but checking in was a breeze as they communicated very clearly with us by messaging. We turned up and our room was open with the key inside....

This was the coziest most wonderful stay we've had on our trip yet and we'll definitely be back. "Kitchen was very well-equipped, with a lovely big fridge. Appreciate the laundry machine available. Older place so a bit worn and dusty in places. Very spacious - yet somewhat awkward for just relaxing in. Single beds were not comfortable so we placed tri-fold mattresses on top. Orange duvet covers not a pleasant material to touch. We could not get hot water in the tub so we're not able to enjoy it! Air conditioning was good! Nice neighborhood. Lovely plants and birds just outside!"

"The staff were wonderful and so kind and helpful. We got in late after driving from tokyo after a 16 hour flight and we were so happy to walk into the room we had. It was clean, large and comfortable. When we woke up the next morning and opened our curtains we were met with the most gorgeous view of the ocean. The breakfast buffet was huge and had a wide variety of choices. You could enjoy eggs and bacon and pancakes or have a plate of sushi and a bowl of rice. Every breakfast drink you could think of. There was a vending machine on the first floor that had beer and water and juice and laundry facilities as well. Not to mention a spa and onsen. The beach was a short stroll from the back door through a beautiful walkway down the steps. If you find yourself in shimoda this is a wonderful choice for a place to call home."
