Golden Horn Bosphorus Hotel

"My stay at the Golden Horn Bosphorus Hotel was absolutely incredible. The room was immaculately clean, very spacious, and had an amazing view of the Bosphorus. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, going out of their way to ensure I had the best possible stay in Istanbul. Their recommendations for places to visit were much appreciated. I’d highly recommend taking a boat tour on the Bosphorus. The hotel staff even presented me with a commemorative scarf for the Europa League Final after learning that I was attending the event, which was a thoughtful and highly appreciated gesture. Complimentary coffee and tea are available throughout your stay, and the views from the rooftop terrace are fantastic, especially after dark. You can grab breakfast just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel and you’re only a stone’s throw from the nearest metro station. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this hotel again, and I’d recommended it to anyone visiting Istanbul. Thank you so much!"

"The Sultanhan is in a perfect location to walk to everywhere we wanted to go, yet it is set back off a main street to escape the noise of a bustling city. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The free breakfast on the top floor was awesome and provided wonderful views. We ate there enough days that the staff began to recognize us and on the last day, they surprised my husband with a free omelet (that item was an extra charge on their buffet) which was very nice. What makes this hotel stand out is the front desk staff, particularly Engin. He was so darn helpful and friendly! We wanted to take the ferry over to the Asian side of Istanbul and talked to Engin about how to go about it. He loaned us his ferry card that we could put money on to make the transfer back and forth easier. That was immensely helpful and appreciated! One of our tours was late picking us up and the staff went out of his way to find out what was going on and resolved the issue. Engin also booked a night boat excursion for us. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and experience with Sultanhan!"

"Mr Emir at the reception was exemplary, but it ends there! The housekeeping were hit and miss, but mostly miss. Breakfast staff on top floor were not polite and showed bad attitude. The property only and only makes up the positive reviews for it’s location and views, but the hotel itself is very old and dated and needs a massive and thorough renovation. Air condition works but so-so and breakfast just does the job (ONLY JUST). I think a 2/5 star rating overall is adequate, however, I was seriously considering giving them a 1 star review, but that would have been too harsh. They said the hotel was fully booked but I really think it wasn’t and I only ever heard other stayers at the hotel commending the views and nothing else. Apparently there has been a change of ownership in the last few years and the last known renovation was in 2013, so these new owners have neglected the property BIG TIME! I wouldn’t advise against staying here, as I’ve stayed at worse properties, but I would warn to be EXTREMELY cautious and if you need more water in addition to the two bottles that they are supposed to put in the room each day, but don’t always, I would suggest buying from the local shop. It’s rated a 4 star hotel, but more 3 star in my honest opinion. I’ve stayed at the nearby Sura Design Boutique property and also the Doubletree by Hilton Sirkeci hotel and they are both rated 4 star, but they are miles and skies above the standards of Hotel Arcadia Blue. It was always too dark here."

"Fantastic staff who were helpful, friendly and efficient. The rooftop terrace has amazing 360 degree views of Istanbul. We had some delicious meals in the restaurant, and breakfast was very good. The room was clean with good air conditioning. We would highly recommend this hotel for an enjoyable stay in Istanbul."
