We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Hotel Sari Konak.
The hotel is a short walk from all sorts of restaurants, market shops, the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Little further on are the Topkapi Palace and Basilica Cistern. Everyone mentions how convenient it is to be so centrally located in Sultanahmet, and we agree. We were there for a weekend that brought even more people to Istanbul because of a holiday, and we chose to pass up on the long lines for the mosques that form during the day, opting to see those sites later in the evening since they were so close to the hotel. We also took advantage of the public transportation that was also close to the hotel. Each time you leave, you give your key to the gentleman at the front desk. This gives you a wonderful opportunity to touch base with whomever is there as you return, commenting on your day, your walks, and ask any questions. Our room was a standard double room, which was a good size, with comfortable bed and nice shower/bathroom. There is a small refrigerator in the room and tea/coffee kettle service. Our room was on the third floor, next to the elevator and just down the short walk to take the steps to the rooftop. Even though the hotel was full the days we were there, we never heard anyone in the hallways or heard the elevator running. Wi-Fi service was excellent. The rooftop was a very beautiful and special place to enjoy throughout the day. We went up each morning for the delightful breakfast with excellent service.
