"Well located for shops and both Exeter Main and St. Davids railway stations. My room was compact but well thought out and well equipped. It was great to have a light next to the bed which you could turn off/on easily and the shower was good. Breakfast was first class, beautifully served and coffee one of the best. I would have liked more savoury options for the breakfast but that is just a small preference. Host was really helpful and very welcoming. I would stay here again."

The room was interesting with a very comfortable bed with clean bedding. The bathroom was clean and had everything we needed, although it would have been nice to have had large bath towels. "What a brilliant pub/hotel! Will stay again. Such a lovely hotel with views by the river. Room was spacious, lots of interesting pictures, wonderful food and very polite, helpful staff. Convenient parking. Loved the spiral staircase with over hanging wisteria!"

"Great for a nights stay in the heart of Exeter. Clean, tidy, on site parking for £10 a night (car can stay until 2pm) Very old building so bit of a maze but that’s part of its charm. No AC so would be hot in summer."

"Positives - location perfect for exploring Exeter and The Quay. Bathroom was nice and more recently refurbished. Carpark was straightforward but you pay. Bar man very helpful, went out of his way to find some peppermint tea, very grateful. Staff were friendly but no one explained about the £10 pp charge to swim… we were simply told we could use the leisure facilities while we stayed. "The kitchenette rooms are lovely and spacious with good facilities. Beds are huge and super comfy, TV was massive! Room was clean and quiet. Staff both at reception and at the breakfast were very friendly and made you feel at ease. Breakfast was especially good with lots of nice options, you don’t feel rushed to get in and out so you can really take your time in there. A lovely stay."
