"Room in an old country inn. Room fairly basic but fine for a night or two. Close enough to Exeter to be accessible. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Would stay again if in the area. "

Exeter has a great vibe about it. Shops all open at the weekend. Great variety of shopping , lots of independent shops too. Good choice of restaurants . Beautiful old buildings mixed in with the new , very well done . The Cathedral is breathtaking.

Good buzz about the city, small enough to walk around easily, big enough to have stuff going on and things to do and see. Good eating options too. If you're into a "proper" pub, try out the Hourglass. And take a look at the intimate Cygnet Theatre.

A beautiful old city around the Cathedral, central town centre and shopping area but surrounding areas are a bit run down, (mostly geared up for student accommodation), and some of the roads are shocking, with a lot of potholes!

Loved the history and the remains of the roman wall. Walked to the quay which was all downhill on the way there, unfortunately, all uphill on the way back! Not got if you struggle to walk.

Went for the races which were cancelled due to Storm Bert. The Christmas market had a decent variety of stalls. The cathedral was beautiful. There are plenty of restaurant choices.

Exeter city centre was compact and had all the major shops. Plenty of restaurant choice and a lovely area fronting the Cathedral. Football ground ideally located for visting fans on the edge of the city centre. P.S Wrexham won 2-0 !

I was born in Exeter and love the City and it's history. It has changed a lot over the years but you can't lose it's past.
"The friendly reception was brilliant and the swim/ spa area was lovely. Really impressed with the lodge....like a tardis! Thanks fir a great stay :-)"
"Everything was good except the very stained dirty looking chair that spoilt the otherwise spotless room. The chair may have been cleaned but the staining looked disgusting. Surprised as the management should be looking at it from a visitos perspective."
"Reception staff including one excellent trainee helped us upgrade to accommodate our 16 year old grandson who was now travelling with us. We were very grateful as it was graduation week and all rooms were taken. "
"I checked in on an incredibly hot day when the air conditioning wasn't working as it should. The lady at reception moved my room without being asked to make sure the room I was checked into had air con. When I got to my room, it had clearly been prepared with the heat in mind - the curtains were closed against the direct sunlight and a fan was running - the room was lovely and cool, a nice reprieve from the heat outside. Staff are polite and incredibly helpful. "
