"Stayed in this hotel as it was £10-£20 cheaper than others in the area and I was only staying on a brief stop over. My advice if you're thinking about it too - DON'T. Splash that extra tenner and have a nicer night. Low Entrance/exterior - Looks smart but you soon meet the broken rotating entrance door-an indication of what is to come. "Loved: facilities, staff, food fantastic. Spa wonderful but some minor repairs required. Nothing to detract from our stay. Enjoyed tasting menu with wine flight and also James Martin’s restaurant. All in all a great stay, would definitely like to return"

However there was one member of staff in the laundry room who came across like she couldn’t be bothered helping when I asked her for a clean towel for the swimming pool area because the one she pointed me towards smelt really damp so I wanted a clean one and she just ignored me so I helped myself. "Great place and great location - especially if you are going on a cruise. Walking distance to the port and also to the bus and train station. A bit hot in our room since there was no air conditioning, but the fan provided helped. This was in June, though, and we had very hot weather. Would come back in a heartbeat!"
