"A lot of design flair has been put into The Kings Head interiors. Very comfortable. The choice of breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal we enjoyed there. The staff were very helpful as was their manager Tahir. The Kings Head is on the bus route into Winchester with a bus stop right outside. Very convenient for visiting the city. We were very impressed and would definitely stay again."

"A comfortable, quiet nights sleep. Staff were polite and attentive. The hotel is in the centre of town and I thought the noise from other establishments would filter into our room but it did not. Breakfast was cooked to order and was very tasty. The continental breakfast had a good selection. We would stay again."

"The room was clean and well presented, the bathroom and its shower were what let it down for me. Little water pressure and no adjustable head or the little hand shower unit. The bed while being a lovely four poster was uncomfortable and I wasn’t able to get a good nights sleep either night. The bells were of course a little bit of a pain but that’s entirely out of your control and I knew that would happen."

"I know it's just been done up but there's not much not tp like at the Potters Heron. The staff are always super pleasant bordering on actually enjoying their jobs (I wish I was the same), food excellent although the menu could change monthly. Rooms, very clean but being a man who hates cushions, ditch them please :). It's a great place to eat and stay. Happy hour as well 5-7 weekdays. Not had breakfast yet but if its like the eveing meals then I can imagine its great."

"From arrival, the staff were not welcoming and made me feel as though I was an inconvenience rather than a guest. Throughout my stay, I found the service to be unfriendly and unhelpful. I was also disappointed that the gym and pool were only open for a limited period during the day. This is not practical for guests who are staying in town for work and are out during standard daytime hours. While the room itself was acceptable, there were several maintenance and convenience issues: - The shower appeared poorly maintained and flooded the bathroom every time it was used. - The TV reception was extremely poor, making it impossible to watch anything properly. - Parking arrangements were also frustrating, as it was actually cheaper to use the car park at the front of the building than the hotel’s own car park. Overall, the stay did not provide the standard of service or facilities I expected."

"This was our third stay at the Cromwell Arms and parking and check in were both quick and easy. Our room, Green Drake, is smart and spacious and has a very nice en suite. Unfortunately it has the disadvantage of being on the ground floor, right at the front, and whereas I don’t particularly mind the noise of the passing traffic (and they provide ear plugs!) I find the fact that pedestrians walk past the window quite disconcerting, and having to pull the blinds down the minute you get into the room isn’t really ideal. In three visits to this hotel we have been given this room twice, so I must make a point of rejecting it the next time we book. Breakfast was very nice, with a good selection of fresh fruit, cereals etc; and our cooked options were all very good as well, with quality ingredients perfectly cooked and nicely presented. The bottom line is that this is a very good hotel in an ideal location close to the river and the town centre."
