"Lovely hotel and surroundings. Very relaxing stay."

"The room was clean and tidy, however when we stayed last year we had bottles of water in our room but this was not the case this time, I brought my own last year but didn't this year as I thought that bottles of water would be in our room. I also requested an extra pillow as the 2 pillows I had were flat, reception made a note of this but the pillow never arrived. Staff were all very welcoming, helpful and pleasant. "The room could do with a little more cleaning and there was some black mould around the bath tub. The toilet needed a deep clean too! The staff on reception were excellent and special mention to Scarlet, Chloe and Josh for their help and kindness. Scarlet was particularly helpful in sorting out an alternative room for me as I wasn’t keen having a room with an adjoining door to the next room (even though it was locked!) Also special thanks to Jack (who managed the spa) and was very keen to try...

"The room itself was lovely however it was very noisy!!! Not only did it sound like there was a fish tank in the room, there was also loud crackling noises going on!! This resulted in neither of us getting very much sleep at all and unfortunately would put me off staying again. I can only hope this occurs a small minority of the rooms. Such a shame as it is a lovely hotel and perfectly located too."

"It was pleasant enough. The staff we encountered were really friendly. The decor is a bit dated. Smelt a bit fusty … but it’s an old building so what do you expect. Lovely grounds. I struggled to sleep as the bed was too soft for me (personal preference). Not sure I’d stay again but did the job for the evening."

"We stayed in a pet room. It was very clean. The breakfast was lovely too. Great stay for a great price. The TV remote didn't work, the iron didn't work and the kettle took a while to boil - on reflection, i'd still give it 4/5 re the cost."

"We had a lovely stay at the Fox Hall Inn. Great food lovely staff and a peaceful setting. We stayed for three nights and our room overlooked the countryside and good spacious carpark. Our breakfast was brought every morning in a hamper and left outside our door just let the staff know what time. Great stay would highly recommend"

"Lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. Flower borders were just lovely! Room (twin deluxe) was spacious, comfortable and clean. One note, we were in room 216 which had view over cafe at back, which was really pretty so not a problem. However, deliveries started unloading at 6am in the morning which wasn't great. The hotel is so close to Beamish working museum, very handy. Few good pubs in the area too."
